GHB and Driving Performance

GHB and Driving Performance

The article explores the effects of γ-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), a psychoactive substance, on driving performance. The study utilizes a driving simulator to assess how GHB impacts individuals' ability to drive safely and effectively.

Abstract

GHB is a potent psychoactive compound known for its effects on the central nervous system. This article investigates the impact of GHB on driving performance, utilizing advanced driving simulators to measure changes in speed, reaction times, and overall control. The findings highlight potential risks associated with GHB use while driving, emphasizing the need for further research and public health awareness.

Effect of γ-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) on driving as measured by a driving simulator

The study employed a state-of-the-art driving simulator to evaluate the effects of GHB on drivers. Participants were administered varying doses of GHB and assessed for changes in speed, accuracy, and reaction times. Results indicated that even low doses of GHB significantly impaired driving performance, increasing the risk of accidents.
